You do NOT have to purchase the item in order to check it off your list.
You may NOT elicit external assistance — doing so will result in the disqualification of any items at the current sale (whether or not the external assistance proved helpful).
For an item to count, while at the sale you must show the item to your opponent and get approval before sign-off. Discretion is advised, in case of arbitration (see Rule 7).
Unless specifically noted in the category, the actual item must be found. Photos or images of the item are insufficient in most instances.
Items must be signed off at the current sale. Items recalled from previous sales do not count.
Items must be signed off on the first visit in a given day. Returning to a sale to sign off an item is prohibited.
If there is a debate about whether an item qualifies, you may present the item to the proprietor with a completely neutral question. "Ma'am, what would you say this item is?" is acceptable. "Is this a floor lamp?" is not. If the proprietor answers with the exact item name, the box is awarded.
Any found item can only count towards a single square.
🏆 Scoring (Rules 9 & 10)
The game ends at the end of the excursion, not when a Bingo is announced.
For each BINGO: +1 point
For each filled-in square: +0.01 point
For each 4-in-a-row (tiebreaker, not part of a BINGO): +0.001 point
Scores range from 0.01 to 17.25 — winning scores are often in the 0.09–2.13 range.
